What to Do If Your Child Doesn’t Like Sports

With March Madness among us and baseball season in full swing, it’s the best time to introduce sports to your kids. Throwing a baseball back and forth on the front yard or teaching your kid how to dribble a basketball for the first time can bring back a lot of memories for parents who were raised around sports. But, what if your kid isn’t interested in sports? Before you lose your cool, Baby Fans is here to provide you with some tips:

Relax. It’s not the end of the world and there is still a chance! At such a young age, kids are exposed to so many activities and things; it’s possible they haven’t had the chance to figure out their interests.

Take them outside. Sometimes all it takes is some vitamin D and a walk to the local park. Expose your kid to more outdoor activities like swimming, hiking, fishing or just walking the dog around the park. This can give your kid the opportunity to see more people having fun with a sport without the intensity of a professional sports game.

Have an open mind. If at the end of the day, your child doesn’t like sports, that’s okay! Find out what their favorite activities are and stick to them. Showing your kids how proud you are of them means more important than forcing them something they aren’t interested in.
